Report: Mercury's Sandy Brondello to be named WNBA coach of the year

Phoenix Mercury coach Sandy Brondello will be named the WNBA coach of the year, Doug Feinberg of the Associated Press reports.
In her first season with the team, Brondello led the Mercury to a 29-5 record. The team's 16-game win streak was the second-longest in league history.

Brondello will receive the award before Phoenix plays the Los Angeles Sparks during the Western Conference semifinals on Friday.
Brondello earned 33 of 38 votes. The other votes were split among Minnesota Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve, Washington Mystics coach Mike Thibault and Atlanta Dream coach Michael Cooper.
