UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) Connecticut Sun guard Katie Douglas has announced her retirement from the WNBA.

The 14-year veteran won her only league championship in 2012 with the Indiana Fever, although she was sidelined for the series after injuring her ankle during the Eastern Conference Finals.

Douglas went to Purdue and helped the Boilermakers win an NCAA championship in 1999. She was selected 10th by the Orlando Miracle in 2001 and remained with the franchise when it moved to Connecticut before the 2003 season.

She was traded from Connecticut to Indiana in 2008 before returning to the Sun last season as a free agent. Douglas played in 32 games last year and averaged 13.2 points. Douglas appeared in only four games the previous season because of a bad back.

She announced her retirement Friday, six days before her 36th birthday.
