Carmella Opens Up Regarding ‘Deep Depression’ After Ectopic Pregnancy
WWE wrestling star Carmella was dealing with a “deep depression” as a result of an ectopic pregnancy, she told the After the Bell podcast Friday, hosted by her husband, Corey Graves, a fellow wrestler and WWE commentator.
“I was dealing with an ectopic pregnancy, which means that the pregnancy was not viable, couldn’t move forward with it, and it’s something that Corey and I were both learning together, is very, very dangerous and something that a lot of women don’t make it through,” she said.
Carmella returned to the ring in February after a seven-month absence from competing. The 35-year-old said she was on bed rest for four weeks straight after the diagnosis and was left to process the loss of her baby while also trying to heal herself.
“I mean, I was in a deep depression for a while. It was really hard, but I felt like it was necessary for me to share my story because even though I had Corey, and I had my family, I have never felt so alone. … It’s kind of blaming yourself. ‘What did I do wrong? How could I have prevented this?’ But it turns out there is nothing I could have done. It’s just how your body reacts.”
Carmella has been with WWE since 2013.
