WWE wrestler Dominik Mysterio is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery to repair an elbow injury, Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reports.

Tommy John is a surgery that repairs the ulnar collateral ligament in the elbow. It is most commonly seen in baseball pitchers, but other athletes occasionally require the operation. Meltzer reports that Mysterio was injured during his match against Andrade on the April 15 episode of Raw in what was described as “a freak accident.”

While there is no timeline for his return, Mysterio won’t need as long to recover from the surgery as pitchers typically do (usually nine to 12 months) and Meltzer reports that WWE intends to have remain on television while he rehabs.

Mysterio is part of the Judgement Day stable, which also includes includes world heavyweight champion Damian Priest, Finn Bálor and JD McDonagh. Rhea Ripley is also part of the group and was forced to vacate her women’s world championship on Raw last week due to a shoulder injury.
