CM Punk has reflected on the conversation he had with Paul "Triple H" Levesque before returning to the WWE.

Punk shocked the wrestling world when he made his entrance at the conclusion of the 2023 Survivor Series PLE event in Chicago. His appearance was a genuine surprise to fans and pundits, as WWE was able to keep things tight-lipped. While Punk didn't get much time to soak things in, suffering a torn triceps injury during the Royal Rumble match earlier this year, his presence has certainly been felt even if it's just for promos while he heals.

"The Second City Saint" did not leave WWE on good terms, and he had some heated words for "Triple H" upon his early 2014 exit from WWE. It's clear by now that it's all water under the bridge.

Appearing on "The MMA Hour," CM Punk recalled his chat with Levesque before eventually signing a new WWE deal.

"I asked him if he wanted to talk on the phone, and he said, 'No, I would actually like to FaceTime you so I can see you,'" Punk recalled. "I was like, 'Oh, that's interesting.' We just talked about a whole lot of stuff and about stuff that was, at one point, probably serious to both of us that is silly now, and we just kind of laughed, buried the hatchet, and then we started talking business. I was like, 'Man, this is Thanksgiving. I don't wanna bother you, you're with your girls, we can talk about it later. But then I was just like, 'Ah well, Friday, and then the show's Saturday, it all got done very, very fast."

Punk admitted that his lawyer wasn't exactly thrilled working overtime during Thanksgiving, but he gets paid well enough to soften the blow. Punk noted that only his lawyer, his wife April Mendez, Levesque, and Nick Khan knew he'd be making the walk at the conclusion of Survivor Series.

Punk is set to serve as a special guest commentator for the World Heavyweight Championship match between Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre on WrestleMania 40 Sunday.
