Fans have shown concern for one massive WWE superstar following a recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown, and there is an update.

Following the smashing success that was WrestleMania 40, the last thing WWE can afford is to lose one of the main stars responsible for that accomplishment. During the April 26th episode of SmackDown, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes took on Carmelo Hayes, who had just been drafted to the blue brand from NXT. At one point during the match, Rhodes landed awkwardly on his shoulder going for a Cody Cutter, and he sold his arm in a way that had some believing he may have been legitimately hurt.

Here is the spot in question from the most recent WWE SmackDown main event:

Fear not, as there is a positive update on "The American Nightmare."

WWE Champion Cody Rhodes NOT On Injury List

Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Radio recently provided an update on Cody Rhodes following the injury scare. They revealed that Rhodes has not been put on the internal injury list. This means that Cody was either simply selling his fall to the mat off the springboard attempt, or if he was a little banged up it's minor.

The news is sure to bring a sigh of relief out of WWE fans and WWE as a whole. With major stars such as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Roman Reigns not available, the company would be put in a rough spot if it lost its biggest active name at the moment.

Rhodes is scheduled to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship for the first time against AJ Styles at WWE Backlash 2024 in Lyon, France on May 4th.
