WWE Backlash 2024 Results: Cody Rhodes Defends, The Bloodline vs. Randy Orton & Kevin Owens

It's time for the WWE Backlash 2024 PLE, and we've got you covered with live results.

WWE is going international, as this year's Backlash event takes place inside the LDLC Arena in Lyon, France. Last night's episode of Friday Night SmackDown was also held in that same arena, and fans broke the record for the highest-grossing attendance in the show's history. WWE is expecting the crowd to be just as raucous for tonight's PLE.

WWE Backlash 2024 Results: Cody Rhodes vs. AJ Styles

Headlining WWE Backlash 2024 will be a matchup for the ultimate male prize on the blue brand. Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will put his title at stake against "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles. While these two hadn't been physical in the buildup to their WWE Backlash 2024 encounter, Styles did slap "The American Nightmare" across the face to end SmackDown last night. Who will get their way in a big spot today?

There will also be a World Heavyweight Championship match between titleholder Damian Priest and Jey Uso. A triple threat match for the WWE Women's Championship will also be on the card and it will feature champion Bayley, Naomi, and Tiffany Stratton.

Fans can also look forward to a WWE Women's Tag Team Championship match, as Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill will challenge The Kabuki Warriors. In the only non-title match on the WWE Backlash 2024 card, Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga of The Bloodline will take on Randy Orton and Kevin Owens in a feud that has quickly escalated.

WWE Backlash 2024 Results

Randy Orton & Kevin Owens vs. The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa & Tama Tonga)

The two teams brawled before the bell rang, leading security and WWE officials to try to break things up. Kevin Owens hit a Stunner on two of the guards. SmackDown GM Nick Aldis made his way out made this a Street Fight.

Everyone began brawling in the crowd. Once the action returned from the crowd, Owens hit a splash on Tama Tonga off the barricade. Orton teased doing the same thing, but instead he gently got off the barricade and slammed Tonga on top of an announce table.

Orton wrecked Tama's body with a kendo stick. Owens and Orton then got tables from under the ring. Owens placed Tama on a table and hit a splash from the ring apron.

In the ring, Orton set up a table but Solo fought back. Sikoa hit a Samoan Drop on Orton through the table.

Owens fought off Sikoa, but Tama returned to get his hits on Owens. He whacked Owens on the back with a kendo stick before giving the weapon to Solo. Sikoa hit Owens in the ribs with the kendo stick.

Owens sent Solo through a table in the corner. Tama then hit a clothesline on KO. Orton hit his trademark DDT on Tama before hitting an RKO, but Solo broke up the pin. Orton landed an RKO on Sikoa on top of an announce table.

Back in the ring, Owens unloaded with chair shots to the back of Tama. He then placed four chairs seated and put Tama on top. He went up the top rope, but Tama cut him off. Owens hit his signature brainbuster right onto the chairs.

Owens went for the pin, but Tama's brother Tanga Loa pulled the referee out of the ring. Loa then took out Orton on the outside.

Solo hit a Ura Nage on KO onto a chair before hitting the Samoan Spike for the win.

Winners: The Bloodline

Bayley (c) vs. Naomi vs. Tiffany Stratton - for the WWE Women's Championship

Stratton dumped Naomi to the outside and hit Bayley with a back elbow. Bayley tried gaining momentum, but was shut down with a clothesline.

Stratton hit her handstand elbow on Naomi on the outside, but Bayley dropped her. Naomi hit a Blockbuster on Bayley off the barricade.

Back in the ring, Naomi hit her split-legged moonsault on Tiffany, but Bayley broke up the pin. Naomi hit a Powerbomb on Tiffany before locking in a submission. Bayley landed an elbow drop from the top rope to break up the pin.

Stratton was hit with Bayley-to-Belly, but she kicked out at two. Tiffany sent the champion into the ring post. She then hit a Steamroller, but before she could attempt the Prettiest Moonsault ever, Naomi pulled her out of the ring.

Stratton hit the Alabama Slam on both Naomi and Bayley onto the announce tables. She went for the double Prettiest Moonsault Ever, but Naomi and Bayley moved out of the way. They hit the 1D on Tiffany.

Bayley and Naomi exchanged pin counters, but the champion ended up scoring the three.

Winner and STILL WWE Women's Champion: Bayley

Backstage, The Bloodline walked past Jey Uso. Paul Heyman had a distraught look on his face.

Damian Priest (c) vs. Jey Uso - for the World Heavyweight Championship

Jey Uso rained down punches on Priest in the corner and aggravated him with his "Yeet" taunt. Jey tried diving on Priest from the ring apron, but he was caught and driven into the barricade. Jey fought back with punches and kicks. He climbed up the top turnbuckle and hit a crossbody for a near fall.

JD McDonagh interfered when the referee wasn't looking. He used the middle rope to hit Jey's crotch, allowing Priest to hit a Spear. Damian took issue with JD interfering and Jey kicked McDonagh off the ring apron. Uso hit a splash from the top rope for a two-count.

Priest hit the Razor's Edge, but Jey got his shoulder up. Jey avoided South of Heaven and hit a Spear for a near fall.

Finn Balor made his way out from the crowd, but Jey superkicked him off the ring apron. Jey went for another Spear, but Priest hit South of Heaven. Uso kicked out at two.

After a few more kicks, Jey hit another Spear and he landed the Uso Splash before JD put Priest's foot on the bottom rope.

Jey hit a suicide dive on JD and a Spear to Balor. Jey went up the top rope for another Uso Splash, but Damian landed a super South of Heaven for the win.

After the match, JD and Balor attacked Jey, but Priest shoved them both off. The issues within The Judgment Day continue.

WWE announced that Backlash 2024 broke the record for largest gate in any arena for a WWE show.

The Kabuki Warriors (c) vs. Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill - for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship

Asuka and Belair got the match started. Asuka went for an octopus submission. Bianca powered out of it and slammed one-half of the challengers.

Jade was tagged in, as was Kairi. Her power advantage was immediately on display, hitting two backbreakers. Belair was tagged back in. Her and Jade slammed Sane down for the double team.

Bianca went for a dive on Kairi on the outside, she missed and Asuka kicked her. Kairi landed a crossbody on Bianca. Sane hit a flying forearm on Belair. Asuka was tagged back in. Belair rolled her up for a near fall. Belair hit a suplex and tried tagging in Jade, but Kairi used Bianca's body to lunge at Cargill and knocked her off the apron.

Jade was tagged in, but eventually fell victim to a double team from The Kabuki Warriors. Kairi was the legal member of her team and was hit with a Chokeslam by Jade.

Kairi went for an armbar on Jade, while Asuka had an armbar on Bianca. Both Cargill and Belair lifted the champions for stereo slams. Belair and Jade had a double team DDT into wheel barrow German suplex on Kairi for a near fall.

The Kabuki Warriors hit the Insane Elbow double team on Belair, but Jade broke up the pin. Jade caught Kairi midair and turned the powerbomb position into Jaded.

Belair then nailed KOD, slamming Asuka right on Kairi. Bianca secured the pin and we have new champions.

Cody Rhodes (c) vs. AJ Styles - for the Undisputed WWE Championship

Cody delivered his receipt, slapping Styles in the face. The two exchanged chops in the corner. After hitting a dropkick, Rhodes did his Stardust taunt. Chants of "Stardust" rained down the LDLC Arena.

Styles charged in, but he was sent crashing right to the bottom rope. With AJ on the outside, Rhodes went for a suicide dive but ate a right hand instead. Styles cleared the announce table, but Cody drove him into the ring steps.

"The American Nightmare" went for a superplex, but AJ got out of it and Rhodes fell to the mat. AJ hit an Electric Chair slam. Styles went for a springboard moonsault, but Rhodes got his knees up.

Rhodes nailed the Disaster Kick for a near fall. As Cody went for another springboard Styles caught him, but Rhodes rolled through with a pin attempt. AJ then hit his Fireman's Carry where he finishes it off by driving his opponent's neck onto his knee. AJ only got a two-count.

Cody looked to suplex Styles on the ring apron, but AJ was the one who landed the move on the hardest part of the ring. Styles went for a kick, but Cody caught him and Powerbombed "The Phenomenal One" onto the French announce table.

The champion and challenger exchanged strikes at the center of the ring. They dropped each other with simultaneous kicks. The two charged up and once again met at the center of the ring and exchanged strikes. Rhodes his the Bionic Elbow for a near fall.

AJ avoided the Cody Cutter. He then suplexed "The American Nightmare" into the corner. Styles hit the springboard 450, but Cody got his shoulder up before three.

AJ hit a Burning Hammer, but Cody kicked out at 1. Rhodes landed the Cody Cutter for a two-count. Rhodes hit a lariat and went for Cross Rhodes, but Styles countered and hit the Pele kick.

AJ went for the Phenomenal Forearm, but Cody superkicked him in midair. Rhodes then locked in the Kimura, but AJ eventually go out. Rhodes hit the super Cody Cutter and then nailed Cross Rhodes for the win.
