The NBA preseason is in full swing as we inch closer to the start of the regular season on Oct. 27. With just two weeks to go, teams are ramping up their preparations for the long haul ahead.

• Chicago Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg said that point guard Derrick Rose may be cleared to begin activities within a week and could return to playing soon. Rose sustained a broken orbital bone at practice on Sept. 29 and underwent surgery.
• The Dallas Mavericks have expressed some interest in signing free agent center Larry Sanders, reports Tim Cato of SB Nation.
• The New Orleans Pelicansannounced that point guard Norris Cole has a high ankle sprain. There is no timetable for his return.

• New York Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis sustained a strained left quad in practice, reports Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News. Porzingis missed Monday’s preseason game against the 76ers.
• Milwaukee Bucks center Miles Plumlee is day-to-day with right knee soreness, reports Charles F. Gardner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
• Los Angeles Lakers center Roy Hibbert sat out of practice Monday with soreness in his right knee, reports Eric Pincus of the Los Angeles Times reports. Hibbert did not need an MRI.
• Lakers head coach Byron Scott compared rookie point guard D’Angelo Russell to NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson, reports Serena Winters of Lakers Nation reports.
