Broncos linebacker Von Miller believes Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel could get a chance to turn his NFL career around in Denver, according to a recent interview with GQ.

Miller and Manziel both attended Texas A&M, and Miller has stayed in touch with Manziel—publicly voicing support for him—through the string of controversies Manziel has recently been involved in.

“I love him to death,” Miller told GQ. “And he knows the type of support he has. It’s ultimately all up to the individual but it also takes a support system and the type of support Johnny has is second to none. I’m first on that list. Whatever he needs, I’m going to get it done for him.”

Manziel is expected to be released by the Browns before the new league year begins on Wednesday.

WOO: A history of controversies surrounding Johnny Manziel

The investigation into a domestic violence incident between Manziel and his ex-girlfriend was completed by Dallas police at the end of last month and referred to a grand jury. But despite the pending case against Manziel, Miller believes the former first-round pick still has a bright NFL future.

“Not only will he be back in the league—of course I’m biased—I still feel like he has a lot of game left in him,” Miller said. “I feel like the world hasn’t even seen him get down yet. Some of the stuff he was doing in college, he going to do the exact same thing in the National Football League. I feel like—you know you never want to blame a team—I don’t think he had enough support around him. Who knows? You might see Johnny Manziel in Denver.”

NFL roster cut tracker: Notable players released

Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning officially announced his retirement on Monday, and backup quarterback Brock Osweiler is slated to hit free agency on Wednesday. However, the controversy surrounding Manziel is likely to cause any team to tread carefully when considering signing him.
