49ers vs. Chiefs Prediction, Player Props, Picks & Odds for Today, 2/11

Super Bowl LVIII is today, and we should be in for a treat. The San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs will face off in the big game for the second time in five years. Although these aren’t identical teams, the Chiefs are still led by QB Patrick Mahomes with a revamped defense, while 49ers QB Brock Purdy is leading a team filled with NFL stars and other big names in just his second season in the NFL.

In this article, I’ll give you my main 49ers vs. Chiefs prediction for tonight’s game and explain why I love San Francisco’s chances. Keep reading to learn more about my 49ers vs. Chiefs best bets and how you can use any of them to earn $158 worth of bonus bets using the BetMGM Sportsbook promo code FNSANFRAN.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Kansas City Chiefs Prediction for Today's Game: Super Bowl 58

It all comes down to one final game, and both teams facing off today thoroughly deserve to be in this spot. People doubted the Chiefs throughout the season, but Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes showed why they should be considered one of the best all-time Head Coach and QB duos. After losing to the Las Vegas Raiders at home 20-14 on Christmas Day, KC has rattled off five straight wins in unconventional fashion.

I say unconventional because the defense has actually been carrying the Chiefs (Yes, I said CARRYING). Kansas City has allowed just 14.0 points per game in these five victories, and only the Buffalo Bills scored more than 17. In that same stretch, the KC offense has scored just 21.6 PPG, which is actually 0.2 points worse than their regular season average of 21.8 PPG (15th in the NFL). So, while the offense has been average at best, this Kansas City defense has been elite, and 49ers QB Brock Purdy will have his work cut out for him today.

Now, the 49ers' path to the Super Bowl wasn’t as challenging as the Chiefs, as they played both games at home. However, San Fran fell behind against the Packers in the Divisional Round and was trailing by 17 at the half against the Detroit Lions. Head coach Kyle Shanahan has received criticism for not being able to execute his game plan when his teams fall behind, but the Niners fought back in both games, and Brock Purdy deserves his praise as he was instrumental in both comebacks.

The second-year QB was the favorite to win the NFL MVP at one point this season, and although he's not as dynamic as the Bills QB Josh Allen or Ravens QB Lamar Jackson, he’s been able to run an extremely complicated offense. Additionally, I expect Shannahan will make things easy for the young playcaller and anticipate lots of running plays from the 49ers. Although the Chiefs defense is elite, their biggest weakness is in the trenches, which San Fran can exploit.

The Chiefs allowed just 17.3 PPG this season (second in the NFL), mainly due to their passing defense, which allowed just 176.5 passing yards per game (fourth in the NFL). Their linebackers are great in coverage, but I don’t think they can match up with the size of the 49ers. If Shannahan fully commits to the run (unlike Baltimore), Christian McCaffrey could be in for a 100+ yard day.

The Chiefs gave up 113.2 rushing yards per game (18th in the NFL), and the Bills tallied 182 yards in their playoff loss to KC. However, Buffalo made multiple critical mistakes in that game, and I still feel like they should’ve won. Therefore, I expect San Fran to follow Buffalo’s game plan, and I’ll start my 49ers vs. Chiefs prediction with a wager on San Francisco ML (-130 at BetMGM).

Player Prop Bets & Picks for 49ers vs. Chiefs Including Travis Kelce and Christian McCaffrey

There are so many 49ers vs. Chiefs player prop bets to choose from, it may be overwhelming. However, I’ve targeted two stars in today’s matchup worth betting on. I already mentioned it, but I expect a big game from 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey.

The NFL Offensive Player of the Year has 37 rushing attempts for 188 yards this postseason, and neither game had a positive game script for the 49ers. So, you’d expect his numbers to be slightly lower, but clearly, Shannahan understands the importance of running the ball.

McCaffrey has more than 90 rushing yards in 10 of the 18 games he played this season and has 90+ rushing yards in nine of San Francisco’s 14 wins. McCaffrey will get plenty of chances to rush today, so the first of my 49ers vs. Chiefs player prop bets is on Christian McCaffrey O89.5 Rushing Yards (-115 at BetMGM).

Next up on my radar is Chiefs TE Travis Kelce. The Cincinnati Bearcats product will go down as one of the best TEs in NFL history, and he’s shown no signs of slowing down. Kelce has 70+ receiving yards in 12 straight playoff games for Kansas City, and in eight instances, he recorded 95+ yards. San Francisco will try their best to slow down Kelce, but they’ve struggled to slow down elite tight ends this season.

Sam Laporta recorded nine catches for 97 receiving yards in the NFC Championship, Zach Ertz had six catches for 53 receiving yards in Week 4, T.J. Hockenson had 11 receptions for 86 receiving yards in Week 7 and Trey McBride recorded 10 catches for 102 receiving yards in Week 15. Kelce is the best TE in the league, so I’m definitely betting on Travis Kelce O70.5 Receiving Yards (-135 at BetMGM) when making 49ers vs. Chiefs player prop bets.

Injury Report for 49ers vs. Chiefs

Both teams are dealing with injuries leading up to today’s game, so we’ve listed the 49ers injury report and Chiefs injury report for Super Bowl 58 below:

San Francisco 49ers Injury Report:

  • Questionable
    • DT Kalia Davis (Ankle)
