The Jets Country player profile series counts up to NFL roster cutdown day. Starting at No. 1 on the team's numerical roster, we will feature one player per day.

There has been a common denominator with most of the New York Jets' offensive player additions this offseason — they "know the system."

Backup quarterback Tim Boyle fits that theme. The 27-year old Connecticut native spent two seasons (2019, 2020) in Green Bay with current Jets' quarterback Aaron Rodgers and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

Until signing with the Jets this pats April, Boyle had played his entire NFL career in NFC North division. He has seen game action with the Packers, Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears.

The 6-foot-4 has played sparingly over the past five years, making only three starts, which all came with the Lions in 2021. Detroit lost all three contests as Boyle averaged 175.3 pass yards per start. He accounted for 5.6 yards per attempt, three touchdown passes and six interceptions.

For his career, Boyle has made 17 regular season appearances and thrown 106 passes. He owns a 62.3 completion percentage while sporting a less-than stellar TD-to-INT ratio (3:8).

Boyle initially entered the league as an undrafted rookie signing by Green Bay in 2018. The Eastern Kentucky product, by way of UConn, was the gameday inactive third-string quarterback for his entire rookie season.

Boyle's first NFL regular season game action came as a Packer on October 20, 2019 in a victory formation situation. Despite totaling 11 appearances with the Packers, he attempted only four passes.

Boyle will provide competition for Zach Wilson at the No. 2 quarterback spot, but he'll likely wind up on the Practice Squad when 'it's all said and done.
