Bam Knight managed to make noise as an undrafted rookie in 2022, but will have to fight for an expanded role in 2023.

The 5-foot-11 Knight will need to boost his efficiency if he hopes to steal second-string carries from Michael Carter or fifth-round draft pick Israel Abanikanda.

In his first pro season out of NC State, Knight totaled 400 yards from scrimmage on 98 touches. He started four of his seven appearances in place of the injured Breece Hall, but accounted for only 3.5 yards per rush. Totaling 85 carries, the rookie recorded 14 first downs and one touchdown on the ground.

Knight showed reliable hands as a pass-catcher out of the backfield, pulling in 13 of 14 targets for 100 yards.

After spending the first half of the 2022 campaign on the Practice Squad, Knight was signed to the roster in Week 8 following Hall's season-ending ACL tear. He made his NFL debut in Week 12, totaling 103 scrimmage yards in a win over the Chicago Bears.

Knight averaged 77 rush yards per game over his first three appearances, but accounted for a combined 70 yards on the ground over his final four outings.

During open OTAs practices, Knight, apparently nursing an injury of sorts, was seen mostly working out off to the side.
