Podcast: How Do Lions Level Up in 2024?

New All Lions podcast examines offseason plans.

Heading into a key offseason, the Detroit Lions are seeking to build off of the success of the 2023 season.

A young, core group of players got its first experience of playoff success and is now expected to take another leap forward in 2024.

Detroit general manager Brad Holmes expressed at his season-ending media session that the front office will look to improve all aspects of the team.

While he did not call out the defense specifically, there is a certain expectation that upgrades will occur, most notably in the secondary.

“I mean, we look to improve every single year. I don’t think it’s like one specific area. I think that’s when you run into danger there, is when you think you’re good at something and you don’t need to work on it anymore," Holmes said. "We’ll always be kind of sharpening our tools in every area, and I don’t think you can ever be perfect, there’s no such thing.

"So, we’ll just kind of look to continue to improve in every area, and we will and we’ve already started that process. Where we ended up, it’s expected. It’ll be expected heading into this year. Super Bowl, look, that was a disappointment that we didn’t make it," Holmes continued. "Again, that wasn’t a, ‘Man, we got lucky.’ No, it’s what we expected, and fell short but still accomplished a lot. We’ll improve in every area.”

The latest All Lions "Bang The Table" podcast explores, with guest Jeff Iafrate, how the Lions can take the next step in their rebuilding process, as expectations have grown drastically.
