Arizona Cardinals Work Out Four CFL Players
NFL teams have been bringing in an increasing number of CFL players for workouts recently, and the Arizona Cardinals are the latest organization to call down some talent from the north.
Howard Balzer reported that the Cardinals worked out four CFL players:
- Tyreik McAllister, WR (Hamilton Tiger-Cats)
- Samuel Emilus, WR (Saskatchewan Roughriders)
- T.J. Brunson, LB (Saskatchewan Roughriders)
- Cody Grace, P (Calgary Stampeders)
McAllister is a versatile player who can do it all, from catching and running with the ball to being a playmaker on special teams. Last season, he rushed for 52 yards and recorded 364 receiving yards with two total touchdowns on offense. He averaged 25.3 yards per kickoff return and had a missed field goal return for a touchdown.
Emilus recorded his first career 1,000-yard season with the Roughriders in 2023, catching six touchdowns as well. The former first-round pick of the 2022 CFL Draft finished eighth in the CFL in receiving yards and was first among Canadians.
Brunson was a seventh-round pick of the New York Giants in the 2020 NFL Draft and played two seasons with them before joining Saskatchewan last year. He recorded nine defensive tackles, seven special teams tackles and one forced fumble in six games for the Roughriders in 2023.
Grace started as the punter for the Stampeders and finished third in the CFL in net punting last year, averaging 47.2 yards per punt. The former 2022 CFL All-Star has also been a West All-Star twice in his career.
Last week, Ottawa Redblacks linebacker Gary Johnson Jr. and Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive back Carthell Flowers-Lloyd worked out with the Jacksonville Jaguars. All CFL players can still sign with NFL teams until Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at noon EST, when free agency kicks off.
