Jacksonville Jaguars Worked Out Two CFL Players
Just before the Jacksonville Jaguars left for their next game against the Cleveland Browns, the team hosted two CFL players for workouts.
The team brought in Ottawa Redblacks linebacker Gary Johnson Jr. and Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive back Carthell Flowers-Lloyd for workouts on Friday.
Johnson played his college football at the University of Texas, racking up 150 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and three forced fumbles in 26 games.
In 2019, he signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, playing 14 games in three seasons with the team. He finished with nine defensive tackles, one sack and 16 special teams tackles. Johnson joined the Redblacks in 2023 playing in eight games, logging eight special teams tackles and a forced fumble.
Flowers-Lloyd’s college days were spent in Eastern Michigan and later transferred to Stony Brook. In 10 games played at Stony Brook in 2022, he put up 70 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss, two sacks, four pass deflections, one interception, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one touchdown.
This past season, he signed and played for the Tiger-Cats. Flowers-Lloyd racked up 31 special teams tackles in 18 games played including three games with four tackles.
Jacksonville has shown confidence in CFL players, as former BC Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke was signed onto the active roster Saturday and he is set to be one of the backup quarterbacks against the Browns.
