CFL All-Star DB Demerio Houston Works Out with LA Chargers
One of the CFL’s best shutdown corners in 2023 earned himself an NFL workout.
The Los Angeles Chargers worked out Winnipeg Blue Bombers defensive back Demerio Houston on Saturday, according to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson.
Houston is coming off a dominant 2023 season with the Bombers in which he recorded 50 tackles and one touchdown. His seven interceptions were a league-high, resulting in the first CFL All-Star and CFL West All-Star selections of Houston's career.
Winnipeg first brought in Houston in 2019 when he signed a futures contract with the team. After the canceled 2020 COVID-19 season, Houston spent most of 2021 on the practice roster before appearing in his first game that October.
His career numbers include 84 defensive tackles, three special teams tackles, nine interceptions and one touchdown in 30 contests, and he was on the Bombers when the team won the Grey Cup in 2021.
Houston spent his college career with the Southern Jaguars, from 2015 through 2018, racking up 16 tackles, six interceptions and four pass deflections in four seasons.
Houston is just the latest CFL star to work out for an NFL team. Earlier this week, Denver Broncos brought down seven players from the north for a closer look.
