The Edmonton Elks have plenty of work to do to return to contention in the CFL’s West Division.

The Elks — who are seeking a new stadium — finished 4-14 and in last place in its division. It shared the league’s worst record with the Ottawa Redblacks.

Edmonton is trying to get back to the Grey Cup for the first time since 2015, when it won its last title, beating, oddly enough, Ottawa.

The CFL released its free agency tracker to keep tabs on all pending free agents for each of the nine CFL teams. Edmonton had 18 players who will be on the free-agent list.

Here is the full list of Elks free agents heading into free agency broken down by position and whether they are American (A), National (N), or Global (G). We also break down four players to watch entering free agency for the Elks.

Edmonton Elks 2024 Pending Free Agents

Top free agents for Edmonton Elks entering CFL free agency:

OL Brett Boyko

Boyko was the CFL’s Offensive Lineman of the Month for October. He’s toggled back and forth between the NFL, the CFL and other spring football leagues, including a stint with the XFL Orlando Guardians last spring. He landed with the Elks in July and helped pave the way for their leading rusher, Kevin Brown, who gained more than 1,100 yards last season. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, native has also done CFL time with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and BC Lions.

DL A.C. Leonard

Leonard was a 3DownNation.com Defensive Player of the Week selection during the 2023 season. The Florida native played his first season with Edmonton in 2023. He had 45 tackles and a career-high 12 sacks in his first season with the Elks. He’s been the pros since 2014 and he’s had stints in the NFL, Arena Football League and other lower-tier spring leagues. But he’s been in the CFL full-time since 2016, with stops at Saskatchewan and Ottawa.

OL Tomas Jack-Krudyla

Jack-Kurdyla was an Offensive Lineman of the Week selection last season. Like Boyko, he helped open up rushing lanes for Brown and the rest of the ground game. He was good enough to play college football in the U.S. with Buffalo, where he played four seasons and was a first-round selection by Edmonton in the 2020 CFL Draft. The Montreal native has been with the Elks ever since.

DB Loucheiz Purifoy

Marcus Lewis led the Elks with four interceptions, but Purifoy was right behind him with three, along with 49 tackles. He has big-play ability, as he scored two defensive touchdowns. The 30-year-old Florida native was a CFL All-Star and West Division All-Star with BC in 2022, so he goes back into the market with another solid season looking to extend his career. He previously played with Saskatchewan and Ottawa.
