Top Five Argonauts Free Agents
A.J. Ouellette, Running Back
Ouellette was one of the leading rushers in the CFL, finishing fourth with 1,009 yards and eight touchdowns. With Andrew Harris also being a free agent and getting up there in age, Ouellette becomes a player the Argos need to bring back to help take the pressure off quarterback Chad Kelly. Look for Toronto to make Ouellette a good offer.
Javon Leake, Running Back/Return Specialist
It’s what Leake can do in the special teams game that makes him an important player to re-sign. Leake led the CFL in punt return yards with 1,216 yards and four touchdowns. The special teams All-Star got his first selection, and should be someone the Argos look at to bring back for the field-position game and playmaking ability.
Darius Ciraco, Center
One of Toronto’s three CFL All-Stars on the offensive line, Ciraco is entering free agency as one of the top offensive linemen available. This is the first time in his career that he has been selected to the All-Star list. The Argonauts would like to bring him back with an offensive line that allowed just 19 sacks in 2023.
Adarius Pickett, Linebacker
The CFL’s second leading tackler will be hitting the market and Toronto will have to make sure they can keep Pickett. Outside of his 124 total tackles, he also amassed five tackles for loss, six quarterback sacks, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries to earn his first CFL All-Star selection. After his career year, the Argos might need to pay up to bring him back.
Boris Bede, Kicker
Bede is entering free agency after having the best season of his CFL career. Bede finished with converting 37-of-39 field goals, making his percentage a league-high 94.9. With how important the special teams played for Toronto this season, Bede seems like a logical choice to keep around.
