Central Florida coach George O'Leary has named sophomore Justin Holman the team's starting quarterback, according to reports.

Holman began last Saturday's loss to Penn State on the bench as redshirt freshman Pete DiNovo worked with the first-team offense. Holman took over early in the second half, when Penn State led 13-3, and completed 9 of 14 passes for 204 yards, accounting for three total touchdowns before the Knights fell 26-24.

"It’s Holman’s job right now so basically he goes out there," O'Leary told the Sentinel Thursday when asked if he'd continue the quarterback competition among Holman, DiNovo and Nick Patti. "We’ve got three kids we’re working with, but Holman’s been elevated to No. 1."

UCF has a bye week before playing at Missouri next week.
