Notre Dame running back Greg Bryant will be suspended to open the season, according to multiple reports.

According to Irish247, the suspension stems from Bryant committing a "violation of team rules." Irish Illustrated's Pete Sampson reports the suspension will likely be four games.

Bryant arrived at Notre Dame as a five-star recruit in the class of 2013.

As a freshman, the Delray Beach, Fla., native appeared in only three games before suffering a season-ending knee injury. Over 12 games last season, Bryant rushed for 289 yards and three touchdowns on 54 attempts.

This season, Bryant is expected to contribute to an Irish ground attack that also includes leading returning rusher Tarean Folston.

Notre Dame opens the season on Sept. 5 against Texas. The Irish's next three games are at Virginia (Sept. 12), home against Georgia Tech (Sept. 19) and home against UMass (Sept. 26).
