After LSU defeated Iowa on Sunday in order to claim the program's first-ever national championship, head coach Kim Mulkey could be seen having a quick conversation with Caitlin Clark in the postgame handshake line.

Before shaking the hands of Clark's teammates, Mulkey had a message for the Hawkeyes' superstar, praising the junior guard after a sensational run through the 2023 NCAA tournament.

"You're a generational player," Mulkey told Clark, among other things, after the Tigers' 102–85 victory.

Despite the loss, Clark made NCAA tournament history, setting a new mark for the most three-pointers made during the Big Dance. She scored 30 points on Sunday, including eight threes.

Clearly, her performance on Sunday—and throughout the entire NCAA tournament—impressed Mulkey, who took the time to say as much to the 21-year-old. Clark shook Mulkey's hand, nodded her head and appeared to thank the LSU coach while receiving the compliments before continuing on down the handshake line.

It was the first time the 60-year-old coached against Clark and Iowa, and it seems the superstar guard left a strong impression.

It wasn't the first time Mulkey dropped some major praise on Clark. Prior to the national title game, LSU's head coach admitted she'd "never seen a player" like the Hawkeyes guard.

Clark, who was named the Naismith National Player of the Year, appears to have a fan in Mulkey.
