Fans Predict Blowout After Colorado State’s Jay Norvell Rips Deion Sanders

This may not have been a good idea by Colorado State’s head coach days before facing Colorado and Deion Sanders.

On Wednesday, ahead of Colorado State’s matchup vs. Colorado this weekend, Rams head coach Jay Norvell took what appeared to be a shot at Deion Sanders.

“I sat down with ESPN today,” Norvell said. “I don’t care if they hear it in Boulder. I told them, I took my hat off and I took my glasses off. I said when I talk to grown-ups, I take my hat off and my glasses off. That’s what my mother taught me.”

This quote went viral on social media, as fans questioned why Norvell would provoke Sanders ahead of Saturday. Since Colorado is 2-0, as Sanders had extra motivation to beat both TCU and Nebraska, many college football fans predict that the Buffaloes will handily beat Colorado State on Saturday night.

Colorado is a heavy favorite to beat their in-state rivals, although some wondered whether the Buffaloes would look ahead to next week’s game vs. USC. However, Norvell’s comments may have added even more bulletin board material to make sure the Buffaloes stay focused on this week.

In Sanders’ first game with Colorado, he had beef with TCU’s Kendal Briles, and last week he settled a gripe with Nebraska’s Matt Rhule. Now, Sanders has personal motivation for a third straight game.
