Iowa’s Caitlin Clark Sends Ticket Prices Soaring for Potential Record-Breaking Game
Caitlin Clark continues to inch closer to breaking the NCAA Division I women’s basketball career scoring record.
During No. 3 Iowa‘s 93–85 win at Maryland on Saturday night, Clark scored 38 points to climb within 65 points of record-holder Kelsey Plum. Clark now has 3,462 points in her collegiate career, while the former Washington star’s record sits at 3,527.
Clark leads the nation with a scoring average of 32.4 points per game this season. To wit, she is likely to break Plum’s record next on Feb. 11 at Nebraska. The Hawkeyes-Cornhuskers game already is sold out, and fans looking to score a ticket may need to empty their wallets to see the action in person.
As of Sunday, the lowest get-in price to Iowa vs. Nebraska on SI Tickets is $146 including fees. Other ticketing sites have similar prices. StubHub’s lowest are $115 before fees. VividSeats is asking $106 before fees. SeatGeek has tickets for $103 before fees.
Those prices are for general-admission seating. If fans want a reserved seat for the game, they likely will be spending several hundred dollars, with the asking price for some tickets eclipsing $1,000 each.
To put these prices into context, consider that decent seats for Nebraska’s subsequent home game against Northwestern on Feb. 20 are available for as little as $12 each (including fees) from SI Tickets.
College basketball arenas around the Big Ten have been selling out whenever Clark and the Hawkeyes are in town, and fans appear excited to see the superstar guard break Plum’s scoring record.
