Nike Pays Tribute to Caitlin Clark After Her Record-Breaking Performance

The Iowa women’s basketball star received a well-deserved message from the iconic apparel brand.

As anticipated, Iowa women’s basketball star Caitlin Clark received plenty of well-deserved recognition for breaking the NCAA’s all-time women’s basketball scoring record on Thursday night.

One of several congratulatory messages came from Nike, as the apparel brand made sure to put its stamp on the historic moment as Clark donned a Nike brand Iowa jersey.

“Breaking records, breaking new ground,” the social media post from Nike read. “[Caitlin Clark] shatters the All-Time Women’s NCAA Scoring Record and makes it her own.”

The post from Nike included a picture of Clark with her hands up celebrating. Above the picture was the phrase, “You break it, you own it,” which included the iconic Nike swoosh logo.

Clark broke the record with a deep three from the logo in the first quarter. It was three of her program-record 49 points that she scored in No. 4 Iowa’s 106–89 win over Michigan inside a sold-out Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Thursday night.

Now Clark is etched deep into the record books, as she continues her transformative college basketball career.
