One of Alabama basketball's transfer portal commitments was arrested for second-degree marijuana possession in Tuscaloosa Saturday night as first reported by Tuscaloosa Patch

Wichita State transfer and Alabama native Jaykwon Walton was charged after being approached by police officers in a car with two others on Reed Street near The Strip. The officers found over 30 grams of marijuana and multiple loaded firearms in the vehicle. There was no charge related to the firearms because of the Alabama law allowing concealed carry of a handgun without a pistol permit.

Walton, along with back-seat passenger Kameron Deshawn Harris, were both charged with second-degree possession of marijuana and released on $500 bond.

Walton committed to Alabama back on March 28, but had not yet officially signed to be part of the basketball program.

Alabama head coach Nate Oats released a statement saying that Walton was no longer being pursued by the Crimson Tide.

"Alabama is no longer recruiting Jaykwon Walton and he will not be a student-athlete at The University of Alabama," Oats said in the statement.

The Carver High School product out of Montgomery began his career at Georgia before spending a year in Tuscaloosa at Shelton State. He then transferred to Wichita State, where he led the Shockers in scoring last season. Walton again answered the transfer portal before committing to the Crimson Tide last month.

Alabama picked up two other commitments from the transfer portal this week in Hofstra's Aaron Estrada and Latrell Wrightsell Jr. from Cal State Fullerton.
