TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The 2022-23 season has come and gone for Alabama basketball, and it was one of the most successful seasons in program history.
After sweeping both SEC championships, securing the No. 1overall seed, and making the Sweet 16, head coach Nate Oats has a lot of momentum to build off of heading into next year.
In the new age of the transfer portal in college basketball, roster turnover has become the norm. Below is a tracker that will let you know where Alabama's roster currently stands, from who's staying, who's going where, and everything in between.
This list will always be updated with the most current changes regarding Alabama basketball's roster heading into the 2023-24 season.

Declared For NBA Draft
Brandon Miller - Forward (Freshman)
- Miller started every game for Alabama and was incredibly productive in his lone season, averaging nearly 19 points and 8 rebounds per game.
- He became one of the most decorated players in Alabama history, with accolades consisting of: SEC Player of the Year, SEC Freshman of the Year, All-SEC First Team, All-SEC Freshman Team, consensus second team All-American, and SEC Tournament MVP.
- Miller was projected to be a top-5 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. He was selected second by the Charlotte Hornets.

Noah Clowney - Forward (Freshman)
- Clowney exceeded expectations as a fringe top-75 recruit, and put together a freshman season that saw him soar up draft boards while averaging roughly 10 points and 8 rebounds per game.
- He was a projected first-round pick and selected No. 21 by the Brooklyn Nets.

Charles Bediako - Center (Sophomore)
- Bediako began playing some of the best basketball of his career down the stretch for Alabama, showcasing his elite rim protections skills and his ability as a lob threat on the offensive end of the floor.
- His efforts on the defensive end earned him an SEC All-Defensive Team selection as a sophomore.
- After testing the NBA Draft waters with an NCAA approved agent, Bediako elected to forego his eligibility and remain in the draft. He was not selected and subsequently reached an agreement to attend training camp with the San Antonio Spurs.

Incoming Transfers to Alabama
Aaron Estrada - Guard (Senior)
- Estrada is a grad transfer, and spent the last two seasons playing for Hofstra. He averaged 20 points per game a season ago, and is the two-time reigning CAA Player of the Year.
- He is a dynamic scorer at all three levels and will be heavily utilized in Alabama's high-powered offensive system.

Latrell Wrightsell Jr. - Guard (Junior)
- Wrightsell was the leading scorer for Cal State Fullerton this past season, averaging 16.3 points per game and shooting over 38 percent from beyond the arc. He was awarded First Team All-Big West honors for his play.
- He adds even more depth and scoring to an Alabama backcourt that is quickly turning into one of the deepest in the country with its additions from the portal.

Grant Nelson - Forward (Junior)
- Nelson was a First Team All-Summit League selected last season for North Dakota State, averaging 17 points and nine rebounds a game.
- The addition of Nelson provides much-needed size on the interior, and he has an incredibly skilled offensive game to go along with it.

Mohamed Wague - Forward (Sophomore)
- Wague entered the transfer portal late in the process, leaving West Virginia after Bob Huggins' resignation.
- He averaged just over four points and three rebounds last season in very limited minutes but showed great flashes of potential, and will be a much-needed depth piece down low behind Alabama's current roster of big men.

Returning Players
Mark Sears - Guard (Junior)
- After spending his first two years of college at Ohio, Sears transferred back to his home state last offseason and was a major contributor for Alabama this past season, earning second team All-SEC honors.
- Sears, like Bediako and Quinerly, opted to enter his name in the draft but elected to return got his senior season.

Rylan Griffen - Guard (Freshman)
- Another member of Alabama's incredibly strong freshman class, Griffen put together a very respectable freshman season as a regular contributor off the bench.
- He showed major flashes of high-level scoring potential as both a shooter and a finisher, and with some added weight and improvements defensively can be a force in the SEC. He will have the opportunity to compete for a starting role next season.
Nick Pringle - Forward (Junior)
- Pringle went from being a relatively unknown player on the team to a fan-favorite over the course of the season, with his high energy and leaping ability captivating Crimson Tide fans.
- He carved out a nice role as a bench big man after transferring in from Dodge City Community College, and showed vast improvements as the season went on as a lob threat and rebounder.
- With two years of eligibility remaining, Pringle can continue to expand his role in Tuscaloosa as he improves upon his defensive positioning and free throw shooting.
Davin Cosby - Guard (Freshman)
- Originally a 4-star recruit in Alabama's 2023 recruiting class, Cosby elected to finish high school early and enroll at Alabama in January, redshirting this past season.
- After spending a season getting acclimated to playing against college players as well as beginning in Alabama's strength program, Cosby looks to step into a contributing role next season as a guard with sharpshooting capabilities
- Because he redshirted this past season, Cosby will be a redshirt freshman next year with four years remaining.
Incoming Recruits
Jarin Stevenson - Forward
- Stevenson, a 6-foot-10 forward, was originally a 5-star recruit in the Class of 2024, but opted to reclassify to 2023 to join the Crimson Tide this coming season.
- Alabama beat out North Carolina, where Stevenson's mother played basketball, for his commitment. His versatility on both ends of the floor give him a chance to make an immediate impact despite his youth.

Sam Walters - Forward
- Walters is a 6-foot-8 forward from Florida that was Alabama's first commitment of the 2023 class, committing back in June of 2022. He ranks as high as a top-70 prospect by recruiting services.
- His size combined with his mobility and shooting capabilities make him an incredibly intriguing long-term prospect for Oats and company, he just may need some weight added to his 180-pound frame before he can make a major impact.

Mouhamed Dioubate - Forward
- Dioubate, a 6-foot-7 power forward from New York, is ranked as a top-100 recruit by the majority of recruiting services.
- Already weighing in at 215 pounds, Dioubate has the frame and physicality to potentially contribute early on in his career, especially in an Alabama frontcourt losing Clowney to the NBA. He is a very strong defender with a knack for inside finishing, and plays with a high motor on both ends of the floor.

Kris Parker - Guard
- Parker, also hailing from Florida, is a 6-foot-6 wing that can play both shooting guard and small forward with length that is highly valued in Oats' system.
- He has shown improvements as a shotmaker over his high school career, and has the build of a capable two-way wing. He, like Walters, has been ranked as high as the top-70 by recruiting services.

Incoming Coaches
Austin Claunch - Head Coach (Nicholls State)
- Claunch became Oats' first hire of the offseason, coming just a day after Pettway's departure to Kennesaw State,
- He spent the past five seasons as the head coach of Nicholls State, going 90-61 and winning the 2020-21 Southland Coach of the Year. He figures to step into what was Pettway's role on the staff as a recruiter primarily in the southeast region of the country.

Ryan Pannone - Assistant Coach (New Orleans Pelicans)
- Pannone was added as the second new incoming coach to join the Alabama staff, previously serving as an assistant coach for the Pelicans and previously the head coach for he G-League's Birmingham Squadron.
- Due to his NBA background he will likely be replacing Charlie Henry's role on staff as the lead strategic X's and O's assistant.
Preston Murphy - Assistant Coach (Creighton)
- Preston Murphy became Alabama's final hire to fill out the coaching staff, and was given the official title of "Special Assistant to the Head Coach."
- Previously having coached at Creighton, Murphy will fill the role of the Crimson Tide's lead recruiter.

Exhausted Eligibility
Noah Gurley - Forward (Senior)
- Gurley spent his first three years of college at Furman, before transferring to Alabama for his senior year and COVID year.
- He took a significantly less role compared to being a starter on the 2021-22 team, but also took on a leadership role as the veteran in the locker room. Gurley's experience and good attitude shown through, leading to a few big performances in tournament play to close out his college career.
Dom Welch - Guard (Senior)
- Welch used his extra COVID year to transfer to Alabama after spending four years as a routine starter at St. Bonaventure.
- He missed significant time due to a calf injury at the start of the season, and never quite found his stride again. He averaged just nine minutes per game on the season.
Departing Transfers
Nimari Burnett - Guard (RS Sophomore)
- Committed to Michigan on March 30
- The redshirt sophomore was recruited by Alabama out of high school, and transferred to the Crimson Tide after a short-lived freshman season at Texas Tech. He then missed his first season at Alabama due to a torn ACL, making his Crimson Tide debut this past season.
- He began the season as a starter but had another season dealing with injuries and gradually saw his role decrease as the season went on. His decision to transfer was likely due to wanting an opportunity for more playing time.

Jaden Bradley - Guard (Freshman)
- Committed to Arizona on May 3
- Entering as a 5-star recruit and McDonald's All-American, Bradley had a solid first collegiate season. He only averaged about six points per game, but served his role well as a pass-first point guard that facilitated the Alabama offense and showed flashes of excellent finishing ability.
- The freshman lost his starting spot in favor of Quinerly in the postseason, and saw his minutes decrease in tournament play, which is the likely reason for him entering the transfer portal.

Jahvon Quinerly - Guard (Senior)
- Committed to Memphis on July 13
- Quinerly returned to Alabama to rehab his torn ACL after many thought he would turn pro last season, and earned SEC Co-Sixth Man of the Year honors after being a spark off the Crimson Tide bench.
- After testing the NBA Draft waters, Quinerly announced he would return to school for his final year of eligibility. Nearly a month later, Quinerly decided to enter the transfer portal.

Delaney Heard - Guard (Junior Walk-On)
- Committed to Kennesaw State on July 1
- Heard was a walk-on who had been in the Alabama program for the past three seasons, originally hailing from Canton, Ga.
- He entered the transfer portal after a junior season that saw him make an appearance in 13 games and score a total of 15 points.
Jaden Quinerly - Guard (Junior Walk-On)
- Jaden Quinerly, younger brother of Jahvon Quinerly, was been a walk-on at Alabama all three years of his college career and appeared in 13 games this past season.
- He entered the portal last season as well, and decided to come back when Jahvon Quinerly decided to return to Alabama.
Adam Cottrell - Guard (Senior Walk-On)
- Cottrell was a senior walk-on who appeared in 14 games this past season and scored a total of eight points.
- He became best known for his fun-loving bench personality, and his infamous dad jokes even earned him a spot on ESPN's "94 Feet" segment with Jay Bilas.
Departing Coaches
Bryan Hodgson - Assistant Coach
- Hodgson came with Oats from Buffalo, and has been on staff with Oats in all eight of Oats' seasons as a college head coach. After the season, Hodgson was hired by Arkansas State to become its next head coach.
- Across his four years at Alabama he became one of the best recruiters in the country, signing the likes of Brandon Miller, Josh Primo, Charles Bediako, Jaden Bradley and many more.

Charlie Henry - Assistant Coach
- Henry has spent all four of Oats' seasons at Alabama on staff in Tuscaloosa, serving primarily as the lead defensive coach.
- Prior to coming to Alabama, Henry was the head coach of the Windy City Bulls, the G-League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls. Next season, Henry will be the head coach of Georgia Southern.

Antoine Pettway - Assistant Coach
- Pettway will be the head coach at Kennesaw State after over a decade on the Alabama basketball staff, serving as one of the primary recruiters.
