TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama softball will be missing some depth on the bench for the rest of the season.

Junior utility player KJ Haney will miss the entire 2023 season according to head coach Patrick Murphy.

"She had a little Achilles thing," Murphy said. "We took some time off. We did some rehab, and the next MRI was worse. So she had surgery, and she's done for the year."

Haney has not appeared in any game this season. She is most known for her pinch-hit grand slam against South Carolina last season that gave the Crimson Tide the lead on the way to the comeback victory over the Gamecocks.

Over her career, Haney has mainly served as a pinch hitter, but did make on start last season. She has two career home runs and 10 RBIs. Last season, Haney only hit .231, but had an on-base percentage of .545 thanks to nine walks. She also famously brings the energy in the dugout, and has still be at games this season supporting her teammates, just not in uniform.

Sophomore Aubrey Barnhart was not in the dugout for Sunday's game against Kennesaw State, and Murphy said the infielder is taking some time off from softball. Barnhart has appeared in four games this season with two starts. She does not have a hit, but scored a run in the win over Georgia Southern on Feb. 11.

Alabama is 11-3 on the season and takes on Southern Miss Wednesday at 6 p.m.
