New Alabama football coach Kalen DeBoer comes to Tuscaloosa with as one of the country's top offensive minds. The Crimson Tide program has quarterback Jalen Milroe returning for 2024. Is he the right signal-caller to make DeBoer's offense click in his first season at Alabama?

The redshirt junior from Katy, Texas finished sixth in the Heisman Trophy race last season, despite not playing in all of Alabama's games.

He passed for 2,834 yards with 23 touchdowns and only six interceptions, while also hurting teams with his legs to a tune of 531 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. Milroe led the Crimson Tide to a SEC Championship win and a birth in the College Football Playoff but fans still have concerns with his ability to manage a complex passing offense.

Former Washington quarterback Michael Penix led the nation in passing last season and finished in second place for the Heisman Trophy. Penix is expected to be drafted highly this coming spring after passing for 4,903 yards and leading the Huskies to the national title game.

DeBoer has an intriguing quarterback room to work with in his first year. Milroe is the obvious headliner but Ty Simpson, Dylan Lonnergan and Washington transfer Austin Mack are surely salivating at the opportunities that a new offense can bring.

The new Alabama head coach has shown his offensive genius throughout his career to this point, but it has been anything except simple. Can Milroe pick up the nuances of the new offense and maintain his starting role, or will he get beat out by one of the younger players during the offseason?
