The Million Dollar Band on The Joe Gaither Show

Two members of the University of Alabama's Million dollar Band discuss what makes the band special on The Joe Gaither Show | Episode 82: Sept. 14, 2023

The Thursday edition of "The Joe Gaither Show on BamaCentral" welcomes Ansley Boles and Brady Mitchell, two members of the Million Dollar Band, to discuss the work and the rewards of being a band member at the University of Alabama.

Prospective band members are put through a rigorous try out to determine if they have the musical ability to be in the band and then comes summer training. Mitchell and Boles discuss the rigors of band camp as the organization drills incessantly to prepare for the fall season.

The pair each talks about some of their favorite memories and venues they've played in so far, they detail how they know where to go on the field and how they make playing the music second nature.

The band doesn't just show up on Saturday to march in Bryant-Denny Stadium, they have a strenuous game day schedule that would make even Nick Saban blush.

The pair discusses what it means to be a part of the Alabama athletics program, what Saban's presence means as he visits the band each summer and invites the band to football practice to teach the new players the fight song and the biggest challenges they've faced joining the organization.

The Million Dollar Band sets the stage and the tone for Alabama sporting events and are often overlooked but "The Joe Gaither Show on BamaCentral" is proud to feature two leaders of the 2023 band.
