Alabama Forward a Game-Time Decision For Saturday
The Alabama Crimson Tide basketball program is off to a solid 2-0 start in Southeastern Conference play after defeating Vanderbilt and South Carolina in the past week.
The grind of the season continues on Saturday with a trip to Starkville as the Tide is set to take on Mississippi State. The Bulldogs are coming off a huge home win over No. 5 Tennessee in their midweek matchup, meaning the Tide must be prepared for a challenging game.
Alabama head coach Nate Oats gave an update on junior forward Mohamed Wague as he missed the Tide's last contest with a foot injury.
"Mo has not practiced yet. We've got a shoot around over at The Hump so we're going to see how it responds to that. He'll be probably a game-time decision. I mean, if he's good today we'll see if it swells up tomorrow," said Oats on Friday.
Wague has been important as Alabama's struggled with rim protection throughout the non-conference schedule. Subsequently Mississippi State has one of the best big men in the conference in Tolu Smith, making Wague's status for the contest all the more important.
The transfer from West Virginia is dealing with a small set-back from an offseason foot surgery. He's appeared in 14 games for the Crimson Tide this season, averaging 12.9 minutes, 5.5 points and 3.6 rebounds.
The Tide will rely on Nick Pringle, Grant Nelson and Mouhamed Dioubate in the front court if Wague is unable to perform on Saturday night.
The Crimson Tide is one of five programs to start the SEC season 2-0, meaning Saturday could go a long way towards Alabama's goal in defending its regular season crown.
