Former Alabama Basketball Player Bryan Passink on The Joe Gaither Show

Current Crimson Tide Sports Network basketball color analyst joins The Joe Gaither Show | Episode 117: Nov. 7, 2023.
In this story:

The Alabama Crimson Tide basketball programs both tipped off their basketball seasons with a double-header in Coleman Coliseum.

The Crimson Tide women's team defeated Alabama State 92-39 and the men's team took down Morehead State 105-73.

"The Joe Gaither Show on BamaCentral" is proud to have former Alabama guard and 21-year veteran of the Crimson Tide Sports Network Bryan Passink into the program to talk about the Alabama double-header.

The Alabama ladies were led by a familiar name in Alabama-lore as Sarah Ashlee Barker really asserted herself in the season opener.

Passink describes what he saw in the Alabama men's opening matchup with so many new faces added to the roster. There were only three returning player from last year's double SEC championship team.

Grant Nelson showcased his skillset in his first game in an Alabama uniform by scoring 24 points and seven rebounds. What will the Crimson Tide take away from the season-opening win?

Two freshman showed exciting skill-sets in their first college action. Jarin Stevenson resembles another player quite closely that Alabama fans are familiar with. Sam Walters appears to be a surprising player after being moderately rated in recruiting.

Passink describes the program's outlook for the SEC season and sets up Friday's action against Indiana State as the women's and men's program has another double-header beginning at 4:30 p.m. CT.

The conversation concludes with a little comparison to Wimp Sanderson as head coach Nate Oats has got the Crimson Tide's basketball program to similar levels in short order.
