Former Alabama Guard Keon Ellis Signs Second Two-Way Contract with Kings
After spending his rookie season in Sacramento last year, former Alabama guard Keon Ellis has signed another two-way contract to remain with the Kings for the 2023-24 season, according to multiple reports.
A two-way contract allows players to be rostered on both an NBA team, and that team's G League affiliate, in Ellis' case, the Stockton Kings. Each NBA team is allowed to sign two players to two-way deals.
As a rookie, Ellis joined the Kings on a two-way after going undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft. He appeared in 16 games, averaging 1.5 points and shooting 50 percent from beyond the arc.
In the G League, Ellis scored just under 17 points per game and averaged 30 minutes a night, while adding five rebounds and three assists per game to go along with it.
Ellis' best game in the NBA came in a Feb. 5 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, where he posted 10 points in 16 minutes on 3-of-5 shooting from the field.
This season, Ellis will make a flat rate of half the NBA's minimum salary, equivalent to roughly $560K. It is a one-year contract, making him a free agent at the end of the year. Players on a two-way contract can play a maximum of 50 games with their NBA team in a single season.
