A point guard with one of the most decorated careers in Alabama basketball will be using his final year of eligibility somewhere else.

Jahvon Quinerly announced Thursday evening that he will spend his sixth season of college basketball at Memphis.

After Alabama's season ended in the Sweet 16, Quinerly entered his name in the NBA Draft, but withdrew his name to use his final year of eligibility, initially saying he would be back for one final go-round with the Crimson Tide.

However, he decided to enter the portal back on June 25. As a grad transfer, he will be immediately eligible for the Tigers.

"Part of my journey is taking risks and following my heart," Quinerly posted on Instagram at the time. "Sometimes as time goes on, we know it's time to move on, take risks and follow our heart."

Last season, Quinerly averaged 8.7 points, 1.9 rebounds and a team-leading 3.6 assists per game (which ranked ninth in the SEC). He finished the season with 1,149 career points with the Crimson Tide, and was named to the SEC All-Tournament Team for the second time.

The point guard was the only player to be with Alabama head coach Nate Oats in all four years of his tenure in Tuscaloosa. Quinerly had to sit out his first season at Alabama after his transfer waiver was denied coming in from Villanova, but was a major part of the program's turn-around with the SEC championship sweep and Sweet 16 run in 2021, winning 2021 SEC Tournament MVP honors.

Quinerly had a reputation for being reliable in March, and his knee injury in the first half of Alabama's Round of 64 NCAA Tournament game in 2022 put a major damper on the Crimson Tide's chances in the game.

He battled back from the ACL to come back to Alabama this past season just four games in and once again helped the Crimson Tide win the regular season and tournament SEC titles.

Since the time Quinerly officially decided to transfer in late June, Oats has added two players from the transfer portal: Grant Nelson from North Dakota State and West Virginia's Mohamed Wague
