Alabama has had multiple players enter the transfer portal since Nick Saban announced his retirement last week. But the Crimson Tide's first 2024 early enrollee has entered the transfer portal.

Tampa Catholic's Jameer Grimsley has entered the portal according to multiple reports. Grimsley was a unanimous four-star prospect as a cornerback/athlete out of Tampa, Florida.

Grimsley joined Alabama in January, but has not played a down for the Crimson Tide before deciding to enter the portal. Alabama signed 23 players on the early signing day on Dec. 20., and 21 players enrolled early.

The 2024 athlete originally committed to Alabama back in January of 2023. His high school coach at Tampa Catholic, Jeris McIntyre, was college teammates with former Alabama defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson, who is now at Georgia.

McIntyre told BamaCentral back in July that he felt comfortable with Grimsley going to play under Robinson.

"I have a really, really close friend Travaris Robinson, T-Rob, that played with me at Auburn, that will be his defensive backs coach when he gets there," McIntyre said in July. "So he'll be in good hands with Coach T-Rob."

Grimsley played both corner and wide receiver in high school. Grimsley would be the eighth defensive back to enter the transfer portal this offseason joining Trey Amos, Caleb Downs, Antonio Kite, Earl Little III, Jake Pope, Dezz Ricks and and Kristian Story. There have been four wide receivers to enter the portal in Ja'Corey Brooks, Isaiah Bond, Malik Benson and Shazz Preston.
