Alabama Announces Changes To 2023 Radio Team
Alabama football welcomes legendary broadcaster Eli Gold back into the radio booth after missing last season battling cancer.
Jim Carabin, the vice president and general manager of Crimson Tide Sports Marketing announced the 2023 radio broadcast lineup via press release on Wednesday.
Gold will return to his traditional play-by-play duties for Crimson Tide Sports Network for all Alabama home games in 2023. He will be accompanied by former Alabama quarterback Tyler Watts, who will serve as the color analyst for both home and away games.
Watts replaces fellow Crimson Tide quarterback John Parker Wilson who is stepping down after five seasons in the role. Watts, from Pelham, was the No. 1 recruit in the state of Alabama in 1998 and played quarterback for the Tide from 1999-2002, accumulating 3540 passing yards along with 20 touchdowns.
Veteran broadcaster Chris Stewart will handle play-by-play for the Alabama road games a role he filled full-time last season during Gold's absence.
The team will welcome back former Alabama and Carolina Panthers linebacker Christian Miller who will handle sideline reporting. Miller served the same role in a part-time capacity last season, but will fill the position in a full-time capacity for 2023.
The Alabama Crimson Tide opens its season on Saturday, Sept. 2 against MTSU inside Bryant-Denny Stadium at 6:30 p.m., The Learfield broadcast of Crimson Tide Sports Network will begin at 3:30 p.m. and can be heard throughout the state on the network's affiliates.
