Alabama Athletics Unveils Upgrades to Weight Room
Alabama head football coach Nick Saban hired David Ballou in the spring of 2020 to overhaul and oversee the Crimson Tide strength and conditioning program.
Ballou, in conjunction with his former partner Dr. Matt Rhea, has spent the last three years integrating the Alabama sports science center in the Mal Moore Athletic Facility.
On Wednesday and Thursday the Alabama Crimson Tide football program's official Twitter account tweeted videos showing off a series of upgrades to the facility.
Ballou served as the narrator for the Wednesday video, showing off an increase in performance platforms, an addition of large screen iPads to each rack in order to instruct the players and larger equipment to suit the larger football players.
Paul Constantine, director of applied science at Alabama served as the narrator for the Thursday snapshot. He showed off equipment in the sports science wing to push the athletes to the next level.
Alabama football's focus on speed and explosion over the last three years is reflected in the the sports science wing as every exercise centered around strategic resistance to increase power.
The Crimson Tide's video even shows off high powered cameras that interact with platforms to measure form and force to determine how best to train each individual athlete.
It's no coincidence that the Crimson Tide's social media video comes on the heels of its first big recruiting weekend of the summer. Saban and his staff are always strategic with their messaging, and these videos just go to show that Alabama football is always doing its best to remain on the cutting edge of the college football world.
