Alabama Football Looking to Get Jam Miller, Justice Haynes More Involved

Jase McClellan and Roydell Williams have shouldered the load so far — expect more carries for Miller and Haynes moving forward.
In this story:

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — During all of fall camp, Alabama head coach Nick Saban praised the depth of the Crimson Tide's running back room. So far this season, seniors Jase McClellan and Roydell Williams have really been the only backs on the field.

Both McClellan and Williams were great in last weekend's slow-paced victory over USF, with the two combining for 203 yards and the game-sealing touchdown by Williams late in the fourth quarter.

But where have Jam Miller and Justice Haynes been? Miller has just seven carries for 29 yards — Haynes has four touches for 29 yards. Haynes hasn't been on the field once for Alabama in the last two games.

Saban said he hopes that they are both going to be factors in the Crimson Tide's rushing attack moving forward this season.

"I think Jase and Roydell have played very, very well — both guys," Saban said. "But we also have confidence in Jam and Justice and I think both of those guys will contribute at some point in time this season pretty significantly. Because they're both really good players and I think they're both ready to play."

The Crimson Tide hosts No. 15 Ole Miss with its back against the wall on Saturday afternoon at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT on CBS.
