In this story:

Welcome to the SEC, Texas and Oklahoma.

After much deliberation, commissioner Greg Sankey and the Southeastern Conference decided to stick with an eight-game conference schedule for the 2024-25 season when the Longhorns and Sooners join the league.

Alabama will open the season against Western Kentucky on Aug. 31, 2024 at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Crimson Tide will also host USF on Sept. 7, 2024 and Mercer on Nov. 16, 2024. Alabama's lone Power 5 nonconference matchup is a road game against Wisconsin on Sept. 14, 2024 in Madison.

The SEC is set to break up the East and West divisions after the 2023-24 season. The SEC championship will be the top two overall teams in the standings.

The Crimson Tide will play against Auburn, Tennessee and LSU as its alleged permanent opponents. Alabama will also host Georgia and South Carolina while traveling to Norman to play Oklahoma.

The Crimson Tide's final two conference opponents are Missouri in Tuscaloosa and Vanderbilt in Nashville.

The dates and times of Alabama's full schedule will be released at a later time.

The SEC is still undecided on potentially moving to a nine-game conference format in 2025-26 and beyond.
