Alabama WR Jermaine Burton Declares for NFL Draft

Burton was Alabama's leading receiver over the last two seasons.

Alabama's top receiver over the last two seasons is headed to the NFL. 

Senior wide receiver Jermaine Burton officially declared for the 2024 NFL Draft Saturday morning on his Instagram. 

"First, I want to thank God for allowing me the opportunities that I have received and will receive in my life," Burton said in the social media statement. "To the University of Alabama, this has been an unforgettable experience and I appreciate how memorable you've all made this for me. 

"To my coaches, thank you for putting your trust in me. A special thank you to Coach Wiggins, you've helped me grow so much as both a player and a person and I'll forever be grateful for that. To my teammates, this brotherhood is one that will carry with all of us throughout our lives and I know so many of you are destined for great things. Lastly, to my family, thank you for riding with me on this journey over the years and for supporting me through every decision I've made. 

"With that said, I'm excited to announce that I will be entering the 2024 NFL Draft. Roll Tide."

Burton spent two seasons with the Crimson Tide after transferring in from Georgia. He was a favorite and frequented target of both Bryce Young and Jalen Milroe. 

In 2023, Burton led Alabama in touchdowns and receiving yards with 39 catches for 798 yards and eight touchdowns. He had four catches for 21 yards in the season-ending Rose Bowl loss to Michigan. 

Burton technically had one year of eligibility remaining with the COVID waiver from 2020, but he participated in Alabama's Senior Day back in November and is projected to go in Day 2 of the NFL draft, so it was expected that he would be heading to the NFL.
