Former Alabama Quarterback Scott Hunter on The Joe Gaither Show
Alabama Crimson Tide legend Scott Hunter is set to be in Tuscaloosa this coming weekend to serve as an honorary captain for the Alabama vs. Ole Miss game.
Hunter, a former Alabama quarterback, is most known for his 1969 dual with Archie Manning against Ole Miss at Legion Field resulting in a 33-32 Crimson Tide victory.
The star quarterback joined "The Joe Gaither Show on BamaCentral" on Tuesday to tell us about his career, how he came to become such a prolific passer, the famous game between he and Manning and much more.
We found out how Hunter initially won the starting quarterback job in 1968 and what he thought when he found out ABC was going to make the 1969 matchup against Ole Miss the first nationally televised night time game in college football history.
Our prolific guest described the opportunities that came his way after that famous game, including how he served his country by uplifting troops at war.
Hunter then talked about the current iteration of the Alabama Crimson Tide football team and the quarterbacking struggles the 2023 team has faced. He described what his advice to the quarterback room would be as the team tries to make the most out of the rest of the season ahead.
The quarterback out of Mobile, Ala. left the program with some NFL trivia and offered words of encouragement to Crimson Tide fans as he was very gracious with his time.
