Saban Provides Injury Report on SEC Teleconference Ahead of Texas Matchup
Alabama head coach Nick Saban provided some optimistic news surrounding the Crimson Tide's injuries on Wednesday.
Alabama defensive backs Malachi Moore and Jaylen Key have been able to practice, according to Saban.
"They're able to practice," Saban said on Wednesday's SEC Teleconference. He said that the "big question" will be returning the players to 100% by Saturday night.
"That's not something we can comment on until they get to that point," Saban said.
Another name on the injury list is linebacker Jihaad Campbell — who Saban said should be able to play barring any setbacks.
Jaylen Key picked up the Crimson Tide's first interception of the season in Week 1 against Middle Tennessee. Key is a transfer from UAB, where he played in 43 career games — including three interceptions.
Moore got hurt on special teams in the second half of Saturday's win.
Campbell was listed on the depth chart behind Deontae Lawson at the middle linebacker position.
No. 3 Alabama (1-0) will need all the defensive help it can get when Quinn Ewers and No. 11 Texas (1-0) come to town on Saturday night in what will be one of the biggest games of the college football season.
Kickoff from Bryant-Denny Stadium is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT on ESPN.
