2024 Top-30 Recruit Names Alabama Basketball in Top 8
As the offseason rolls along and 2023-24 rosters start to fill with transfer portal additions, the attention will slowly start to turn to college basketball's 2024 recruiting class.
On Monday afternoon, 4-star forward Amier Ali named Alabama basketball as one of eight finalists for his commitment. The Crimson Tide was listed alongside Arkansas, Arizona State, Florida State, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio State and Texas.
Ali ranks as a top-30 player by the majority of national recruiting services, the highest being No. 24 by ESPN.
The 6-foot-8 forward is originally from Columbus, Ohio, but plays high school basketball at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Current Alabama center Charles Bediako and former Alabama guard Jaden Bradley both played at IMG Academy as well.
Alabama has already been in contact with multiple 2024 recruits, including hosting a pair of 4-star forwards on official visits in Aiden Sherrell and Donnie Freeman. The Crimson Tide also unofficially hosted 4-star guard Labaron Philon, who recently decomitted from in-state rival Auburn, and was listed in his top six options.
As far as this upcoming season's roster goes, head coach Nate Oats and his newly-hired coaching staff reeled in two transfer portal commitments for next year in Hofstra guard Aaron Estrada and Cal State Fullerton guard Latrell Wrightsell Jr.
The two recent adds from the portal join Wichita State transer Jaykwon Walton and an incoming three-man signing class to amount to at least six newcomers to the Alabama program next season.
Alabama still has one open scholarship to fill before the season begins.
