Alabama Adds Texas Offensive Lineman To 2024 Recruiting Class
Class of 2024 offensive lineman Casey Poe wanted to celebrate his birthday in style. He did exactly that by announcing on Youtube his commitment to play football for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Alabama edged out Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Clemson and Texas Tech for Poe's commitment.
The 6-4, 290 pound prospect is considered a four-star prospect and listed as the fourth best interior lineman in the 2024 class.
"Throughout my entire life I've watched Alabama. I've been fan since I was young. I've gotten to watch where Coach Saban's taken this program. From its highs to its lows, to his best moments to kind of the gray areas and through it all his leadership and his ability to coach guys and get them in the best position they can possibly be in," said Poe. "Being able to see that my entire life and being able to communicate, talk to and build a relationship with him and really get to know his thought process on things. That was the thing I couldn't walk away from."
Poe plays both guard and tackle for Lindale High School. In 2022 the Eagles went 8-5, falling to Kilgore in the third round of the Texas 4A playoffs.
As a sophomore he was named Texas District 9-4A D-I first-team selection and earned the same recognition unanimously as a junior.
The Crimson Tide offered Poe a scholarship in November of 2022. In April he made his way to Tuscaloosa for an unofficial visit and then returned to the Capstone in June for his official.
Poe becomes Alabama's 13th overall commitment and joins Calvary Christian's Joseph Ionata as the second offensive lineman in the 2024 class.
Alabama offensive line coach Eric Wolford and wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins served as Poe's primary recruiters.
