Alabama Flips In-State Prospect, Adds Second Tight End to 2024 Class
The Alabama Crimson Tide has added its second tight end to the 2024 recruiting class as Patrician Academy's Jay Lindsey has taken to social media to announced his commitment.
Lindsey, a 6-5, 240 pound tight end out of Butler, Ala. originally committed to Mississippi State in April of this year. However, after showing out in a June camp in Tuscaloosa the Alabamian landed a Crimson Tide scholarship offer. The opportunity was too much for Lindsey to pass up as he announced his decommitment from the Bulldogs on Saturday and followed it up with the flip to the Crimson Tide on Tuesday.
Lindsey is a 3-star prospect and ranked the No. 46 tight end and No. 37 overall prospect in the state by the 247Sports Composite. He plays in a primarily run-first offense for Patrician Academy and largely serves as an additional lineman for the Saints.
The multi-sport athlete (basketball and baseball) impressed the Alabama coaching staff with his pass-catching ability in camp over the summer and immediately earned himself a scholarship offer.
He becomes the 19th overall commitment in the 2024 class and the second tight end, joining Caleb Odom. Lindsey was primarily recruited by Alabama tight ends coach Joe Cox and defensive line coach Freddie Roach.
The Crimson Tide now has eight in-state prospects in the class and is still ranked with the No. 4 overall class in the current cycle.
