The University of Alabama football program has dipped back into the transfer portal to rebuild its depth in the secondary, adding Louisiana cornerback Trey Amos to the roster.

Amos chose Alabama on Tuesday afternoon. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Alabama was interested in adding some proven experience in the secondary after recently losing some depth with the departures of cornerbacks Jahquez Robinson and Trequon Fegans. The Crimson Tide also had its top three safeties from last year all selected in the 2023 NFL Draft: Brian Branch, Jordan Battle and DeMarcco Hellams.

Per LSU Country, Amos received over 15 offers since entering the NCAA Transfer Portal last week. He was considered one of the best players available and a bonafide prospect for the 2024 NFL Draft.

A class of 2020 product, Amos largely flew under the radar coming out of high school. He attended New Iberia (La.) Catholic and was strongly considered Tennessee, but he remained loyal to Napier in Lafayette before the coach took the job at Florida.

During his time with the Ragin’ Cajuns, Amos saw his game improve each season. Listed as 6 foot 1, 197 pounds, he appeared in 34 games over three seasons. Amos totaled 59 total tackles with 2.5 for loss, one interception and 14 defended passes. He primarily played cornerback, but saw snaps at the position Alabama refers to as "star," the nickel defender over the slot when an extra defensive back is utilized.

Amos visited Alabama last weekend, and made an official visit to LSU. He was also considering Oklahoma, Oregon and Florida among other schools.

BamaOnline was first to report his addition.
