You win some, you lose some in this game.

The Alabama Crimson Tide has been on a tear in the recruiting world recently, scooping up countless high-profile recruits over the last few weeks.

This time, Nick Saban lost.

Five-star wide receiver Perry Thompson committed to the Crimson Tide on June 24, 2022. Fast forward 13 months — and now he will take his talents across the state.

Thompson flipped from Alabama to Auburn on Saturday afternoon in front of head coach Hugh Freeze and several other Tiger commits at "Big Cat Weekend."

Thompson's decision comes just two days after four-star linebacker Demarcus Riddick flipped to Auburn from Georgia.

Thompson is the No. 2 overall player from the state of Alabama in the Class of 2024 and the country's No. 4 wide receiver in the class, according to 247Sports.

Crimson Tide fans will very much remember Julio Jones, another big, physical wideout from Foley High School. At 6-foot-3, 202 pounds, Thompson has the potential to grow into that size over the next few years on the Plains.

It was a given that Freeze would begin to test the likes of Saban and Kirby Smart on the recruiting trail — this week is a strong reminder of that.
