Recruiting Rundown: Bama Gears Up For Summer Finale
It was a bit of a quiet week for the Alabama Crimson Tide on the recruiting trail as it prepares for an all-hands-on-deck weekend ahead.
Alabama was in the mix for in-state linebacker Demarcus Riddick, however on Wednesday he announced his intention to go across the state and play for Auburn.
The final recruiting weekend of the summer means it's time for the Champions Cookout before the Crimson Tide shifts to in-season mode next week.
News and Notes
• 5-star Zion Grady is considered the top edge rusher in the 2025 class. On Sunday he announced his top 10 schools and the Troy product had the Crimson Tide firmly in the mix.
• On Sunday, Alabama legacy Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. reported that the University of Alabama offered him a scholarship. The Gadsden City safety has already received offers from numerous SEC schools, making football fans everywhere feel a bit old.
• Alabama is on commitment watch for two major targets next week. 5-star safety KJ Bolden and 4-star wide receiver Amari Jefferson will both commit on August 5. Bolden is choosing between Georgia, Ohio State and Alabama. Jefferson is down to Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia.
• Alabama offered a preferred walk-on opportunity to a famous Georgia alum. Gage Goldberg, son of Bill Goldberg, announced on Twitter on Wednesday the offer as he and his father were visiting the Capstone.

Jalil Batea will be visiting in September, not October as listed.
Checking Out The Capstone
It's the biggest weekend of the year thus far for the Crimson Tide. The Champions Cookout features a number of already committed prospects but it's the targets that catch our eye.
• Daniel Hill, Class of 2024 athlete from Mississippi, will be on hand. The running back is announcing his commitment in August and has the Tide in his top three schools.
• Amari Jefferson, Class of 2024 wide receiver from Chattanooga, will be on hand. He's visiting Tennessee on Friday and Alabama on Saturday as his commitment looms.

• Eddrick Houston hasn't confirmed whether he will be on hand, but the Alabama staff wants him in Tuscaloosa. The 5-star defensive lineman from Buford is highly coveted by Ohio State and Alabama and thoughts are strong that if he comes to the cookout, the Tide can close.
