Recruiting Rundown: Alabama Adds Punter As Dead Period Ends
The Alabama Crimson Tide spent its week at SEC Media Days as college football is just around the corner, but the Crimson Tide still made some progress on the recruiting front.
Last Saturday the Tide added Caleb Odom to its 2024 recruiting class, propelling Alabama to the No. 5 overall class in this cycle, according to 247sports.
On Wednesday Alabama addressed a key position without spending a scholarship.
Anderson Green out of Northridge High School in Tuscaloosa announced his plans to accept a preferred walk-on position in the 2024 class in order to punt for the Crimson Tide.
Green, a former teammate of Alabama offensive lineman Wilkin Formby is considered the No. 25 overall punter in the class by Jamie Kohl's kicking camps.
News and Notes
• Three-star offensive lineman William Sanders out of Brookwood High School will make his commitment on Friday. Sanders is down to Alabama, LSU and Mississippi State and could become the Tide's third offensive lineman in the 2024 class should he commit.
• Five-star edge rusher DeMarcus Riddick will make his college commitment on Wednesday, July 26. Riddick is technically committed to Georgia and will publicly reaffirm that choice or flip to Alabama or Auburn next week.
• Class of 2025 wide receiver Jamie Ffrench is a five-star prospect making his college commitment on Saturday. Ffrench and current 2025 commit Ryan Williams have displayed chemistry in summer camps and would make for a deadly receiving duo. The Jacksonville, Fla., product has named Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Florida State and Penn State as his finalists.

• Class of 2026 quarterback Julian Lewis has narrowed his choices down to eight schools. The Carrollton High School quarterback is considering Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Southern Cal, Oregon, Texas A&M, Florida State and Ohio State. The Crimson Tide already has commitments from two of his teammates, Caleb Odom and Zykie Helton.
• Class of 2025 five-star guard Darius Acuff took to Twitter to announce the Crimson Tide has extended him a scholarship offer. The 6-2 Michigan native is considered the No. 1 point guard in the '25 class.
• Class of 2026 forward Jaxon Richardson took to Twitter to announce his was offered a scholarship by Nate Oats and Alabama. The Bishop Gorman product is starting to receive major attention by college programs.
Checking Out The Capstone
The NCAA mandated dead-period ends on Monday, July 24 as recruits can resume official on-campus visits and programs can host recruiting events.
The Crimson Tide football program is set to host a cookout at the end of the month. The coaches are targeting a number of high-profile prospects to attend.
