Recruiting Rundown: Alabama Jumps Into Top 10 After Strong Week
It was a huge week for Alabama recruiting as the Crimson Tide pulled in three commitments in the 2024 class and its first commitment of the 2026 class.
Alabama began the week with the No. 27 overall 2024 class but currently sits at No. 10 with plenty of room to continue to rise.
The Crimson Tide saw Zabien Brown complete its cornerback class and made Casey Poe its second offensive lineman to join the class while flipping German prospect Justin Okoronkwo from Maryland to Alabama.
The week isn't quite over for Alabama as one of the top tight ends, Caleb Odom, is set to make his college commitment on Saturday. The Carrollton, Ga., native is down to Alabama, Ole Miss, Miami, Texas A&M and Florida but many pundits expect him to roll with the Tide.
News and Notes
• Four-star center in the 2024 class Aiden Sherrell announced Alabama as one of his top-eight schools on Saturday. The almost 7-footer is considered a top-five center in the upcoming class.
• Alabama made the cut for four-star forward Zion Sensley. The Californian is down to a final five of Alabama, LSU, Arizona State, St. Mary's and Hawaii.
• 2025 five-star Sadiq White Jr. out of North Carolina is down to his final five choices with the Crimson Tide finding itself with Texas, Cincinnati, N.C. State and Syracuse.
Tide-Bits
• Alabama head basketball coach Nate Oats spent last week in South Carolina for the annual Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Peach Jam. Oats was there to observe and recruit the nation's elite. Oats was reportedly watching Kon Knueppel, Labaron Philon and Jalil Bethea.
• Speaking of Knueppel, the five-star prospect is expected to take an official visit to Alabama in September according to Mark Miller of the Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook.
• Class of 2025 forward Layla Hays announced on social media that Kristy Curry and the Crimson Tide have offered her a scholarship. Hays is 6-foot-5 out of Alaska and considered one of the best players in her class.
Checking Out The Capstone
Unfortunately Tuscaloosa, like the rest of the NCAA, faces a few quiet weekends with the dead period continuing through the majority of July.
Recruits are obviously allowed to visit on their own schedules and budgets, but Universities cannot host official visits and in-person contact must cease.
Coaches are still allowed to contact and communicate with prospects by way of email, phone, social media or other indirect methods.
