How Important is Amari Jefferson to Nick Saban and the 2024 Class?
Rising senior wide receiver Amari Jefferson is a playmaker, looking to explode every time he touches the football. The 6-foot-1 athlete is already committed to Tennessee's baseball program but he's drawn special interest from colleges wanting him to play on the gridiron.
Put on the Chattanooga-native's highlight film and it's easy to see why the nation's best are after him for his services. Jefferson averaged nearly 20 yards per reception as a junior and scored double-digit touchdowns while leading the Red Raiders to the school's first football state championship.
Jefferson has already whittled his decision down to a final six schools, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Miami, South Carolina and Oklahoma but he told BamaCentral that he's not near settling on his future home.
However, Jefferson did just take an official visit to Tuscaloosa this past weekend and Alabama head coach Nick Saban gave him special treatment. The seven-time national championship winning coach sat Jefferson right next to him during Saturday night's dinner party.
"He was just saying that Alabama needs me, and that I'm a big priority for the 2024 class and he can see me as a big difference maker on the field for them," said Jefferson on The Joe Gaither Show. "I think that's kind of what stuck out. When I met with him right before I left he was just telling me and my dad that they need me and he wants me at Alabama and when that's coming from Nick Saban that's pretty hard to turn down."
Jefferson plans on taking official visits to Georgia and Tennessee in the next two weekends as his recruitment continues.
